The Douglas Police Department is proud to offer a Women’s Firearms Safety and
Familiarization course on March 12th, 2016 at the Douglas Police Department located at 225 West Bryan Street. The class will begin at 8:00am and will last until at approximately 5:00pm.
The course covers legal issues including the use of force and deadly force, firearms carry, shooting fundamentals and live fire practice. Depending on weather conditions the morning hours will be spent in the classroom and we will travel to the range after lunch. Participants will need to bring a safe and operable handgun and holster, one box (50 rounds) of ammunition. A limited number of handguns are available for loan, but, ammunition in 9mm or 38 Special, will need to be provided by the participant. When registering for the class, please let the Police Department know if you will need to borrow a handgun.
You do not have to be a resident of Douglas to attend this course. It is open to all women that are legally able to possess a firearm. If someone under the age of 18 wishes to attend they must be accompanied by a legal female guardian. There is a small fee of $5.00 to cover the cost of targets and other supplies.
