DOUGLAS POLICE DEPARTMENT OFFERS CITIZEN POLICE ACADEMY
The Douglas Police Department is offering a Citizen Police Academy course that will begin on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at the Douglas Police Department located at 225 W. Bryan Street. The course will last eight (8) weeks and a light meal and refreshments are provided. The course covers numerous areas and is designed to introduce and inform citizens of the role of Law Enforcement in the community and familiarize them with some of the applications of law.
The class hours will be 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM every Thursday night beginning March 3rd through April 23rd. The last day of the Academy will be an all-day event on Saturday, April 23rd. This day’s training will include firearms training at the Douglas Firearms Training Facility.
Some of the topics covered are: Police Dept. Structure, Crime Scene Processing, Family Violence, Juvenile law, Gangs, Evidence Procedures, Patrol Operations, COP, Use of Force, Firearms Training, Internal Affairs, Complaint process, Disciplinary process, and participants will conduct a ride along with an Officer during the course.
